The Argonia (C-47 Skytrain)

Description

According to the Sainte-Mere-Eglise Airborne Museum website, this C-47 Skytrain dropped paratroopers into Normandy the night of June 5/6 so it is a real D-Day C-47. Later it participated in Operation Market Garden and was used to drop supplies to troops during the Battle of the Bulge. It's last major wartime operation was Operation Varsity, one of the largest airborne drops in history. It has been painted in the colors of another D-Day C-47 "The Argonia" to recreate this scene in which Gen. Eisenhower addresses paratroopers of the 101st Airborne the night of June 5, many of which would be dead within hours of this event.
